Sheringham Little Theatre is a community venue serving the people of North Norfolk. The theatre has a firm commitment to involving the local community in quality arts activities and providing a wide variety of performances, exhibitions and events, accessible to everyone.
As a valuable community resource, local groups regularly use the theatre for performances and functions, with many groups also using the theatre’s wardrobe and workshop facility.
Performances and workshops take place throughout the year in theatre, music, film and literature in addition to a regular programme of events for children and families. Supporting the wealth of regional talent, professional and amateur visual artists are invited to show their work in the exhibition area, whilst local musicians are given the opportunity to perform in the informal setting of the coffee bar on Sunday evenings.
Since the re-opening of Sheringham Little Theatre in June 1997, the theatre has attracted new audiences throughout the region. At Sheringham Little Theatre we celebrate and promote the arts in all its forms and aim to bring a varied and balanced programme to the North Norfolk residents and visitors. |

A thriller by N J Crisp presented by arrangement with Samuel French Ltd
A sunny afternoon in the Home Counties. Sally Driscoll is watering her plants in the conservatory of her luxurious home, clad only in a swimsuit. Peaceful enough - but suddenly a bespectacled, suited man, John Barrett, appears at the door. Is he selling double-glazing? No – it would appear that the Barretts met the Driscolls in Torquay. Simple Barrett may appear, but simple he is not. After some exacting word-play, and the arrival of Mark Driscoll, it seems that Barrett is “dangerously obsessed” with pinning the blame for his wife’s accident on someone. Gradually the tale unfolds …

| Event: FILM - Happy Go Lucky (15) |
Venue/Time: Sheringham Little Theatre 2.30pm & 8pm |
| Director: Mike Leigh UK 2008. Running time: 118mins Starring: Sally Hawkins, Eddie Marsan, Alexis Zegerman, Sinead Matthews
Mike Leigh’s ninth feature sees a calmer, more optimistic take on post-Blair Britain compared with his previous films. In Happy-Go-Lucky he portrays contemporary Britain as a country where old-fashioned ideas like community and selflessness still exist. Poppy (Sally Hawkins, The Painted Veil) is an irrepressible 30-something enjoying her life in Camden. Whether out on her bike, preparing lessons for her primary school class, or drinking with her friends in the local, she keeps a smile on her face and a joke on her lips. Despite the misgivings of her younger sister, who has settled down in the suburbs to start a family, Poppy is happy with her life and determined to get the most out of every day. When her bicycle is stolen, she opts to invest in driving lessons, a decision that will bring her face-to-face with Scott, a character with a worldview quite unlike her own. Mike Leigh’s first film since the Oscar-nominated and Venice prize-winning Vera Drake marks the third collaboration between the veteran director and actor Hawkins. She is in almost every frame, and she lights up the screen with a performance of infectious energy and enthusiasm.

| Special Charity Fundraising Performance to Celebrate 40 years of Break
Keith Skipper and his Press Gang entertainers have raised thousands of pounds for Break with special shows during their marathon stint on the local circuit. Now, on the last lap of a 25-year adventure, they are delighted to lend more support in the charity's home town. A potent mixture of yarns, songs and reflections with that distinctive local flavour has helped fill village halls, theatres and other community meeting places since 1984. The Press Gang's Final Farewell Tour this year, with sell-out fixtures in village, town and city, underlines an insatiable appetite for a special brand of home-grown squit and wit. "It's lovely to have a perfect excuse for this farewell fling at the Little Theatre. Several of us have been on stage here before, but this is bound to be a truly emotional experience ... especially for an old trouper like me from Cromer" says Keith.

| Event: FILM - Son of Rambow (12A) |
Venue/Time: Sheringham Little Theatre 2.30pm & 8pm |
| Director: Garth Jennings UK/France 2007 Running time: 95mins Starring: Bill Milner, Will Poulter, Neil Dudgeon, Jessica Hynes
Described by its makers as a film about friendship, faith and the weird business of growing up, Son of Rambow merges Grange Hill with the wit and imagination of Michel Gondry to winning and original effect.
In 1980s England, Will Proudfoot (Bill Milner) is the good-hearted but sheltered son of a Plymouth Brethren family. The Brethren forbid radio, television and films, but Will finds escapism in his drawing, creating a wildly inventive fantasy world. A bit of bother at school throws him together with playground hard-nut Lee Carter (Will Poulter), who shows him a bootleg copy of Rambo: First Blood. Blown away by what he sees, Will's imagination goes into overdrive, and soon he is helping Lee shoot a camcorder epic with just a few makeshift props and an Eric Sykes cameo. Charming, eccentric, funny and profound, Garth Jennings’ film is also a visual tour de force and one of the most likeable and perceptive titles of the year. "Truly remarkable" Empire.

Venue/Time: Sheringham Little Theatre 2.30pm & 8.00pm |
| Director: John Maybury UK 2008 Running time: 126mins Starring: Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Matthew Rhys, Cillian Murphy
A beautifully drawn love story directed by the acclaimed Maybury (Love is the Devil), The Edge of Love revolves around two feisty, free-spirited women, Caitlin (Miller) and Vera (Knightley); Vera’s husband, William (Murphy); and the brilliant, charismatic poet Dylan Thomas (Rhys) who loves both women. Broken promises, passion, betrayal, the shadow of war and the constant threat of imminent death push the protagonists to the edge of love. By no means a biopic in the traditional vein, the story explores the collision of the bohemian underworld with war-torn London, and the intimate complexities of two young couples whose lives and loves become dangerously intertwined.

Venue/Time: Sheringham Little Theatre 7.30pm |

presented by Cromer and Sheringham Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society
The play is set in the house and surroundings of the Wicksteed’s house in Hove. There, in a satirical merry-go-round, we meet a family and its friends and acquaintances for whom the determination to put sex and the satisfaction of the body (or corpus) before everything else is the ruling passion of their lives. The permissive society is taken to task in a farcical comedy in which the characters, stereotypes as their names (e.g. Cannon Throbbing) suggest, move – and indeed dance – in and out through a maze of mistaken identities and sexual encounters. As Wicksteed says at the close, 'He who lusts last, lasts longest'. The play contains saucy seaside humour!

| Director: various UK 1926 -1955. Running time: 82mins. Starring: various
Not so long ago housewives had a number of very good reasons to be desperate. Not only did they have to look after their families in an age of depression, war and austerity, but they did so without the consumer durables that we now consider essential. With humour frequently in its sights, Housewives' Choice is a programme of films from the BFI National Archive that explores the lives of British housewives from the 1920s to the 1950s. The programme includes documentaries, cinemagazines, propaganda films and adverts. It also features films by two of the women who helped to shape the British documentary movement of the 1930s and 40s – Ruby Grierson (1904-40) and Kay Mander (1915).

During the winter months he performs concerts, not only around the UK, but in New Zealand, the USA & Canada. Robert’s music is often heard on Radio 2 and has been featured on television, including playing live for The National Lottery. An audience of around 20 million heard the magnificent sounds of the Wurlitzer Organ.
For Robert’s concert this evening, he will be playing another American instrument, the Lowrey Organ. This concert will feature music from the 1930s to the present day, ranging from ballads to ragtime, dance music to light classical, plus tunes from top West End musicals.

Venue/Time: Sheringham Little Theatre 2.30pm & 8.00pm |
| Director: Saul Dibb UK 2008 Running time: tbc Starring: Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, Dominic Cooper
Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes pair up as an unhappy aristocratic couple in the 18th-century-set costume drama The Duchess. Knightley portrays the scandalous Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, in a film adaptation of the eponymous 1998 bestselling biography by Amanda Foreman. Georgiana was a socialite and celebrated beauty who maintained a famed literary salon, gambled her money away, and led a menage-a-trois with her husband and his mistress - who was also Georgiana's best friend. Partly filmed at nearby Holkham Hall and directed by UEA graduate Saul Dibb (Bullet Boy) The Duchess is a sumptuously shot account of the controversial aristocrat who has been described as the Princess Diana of her time.

Sheringham hosts a world premiere! The Magic Lozenge is a light-hearted story of dark secrets and private passions, to the accompaniment of evocative new music infused with tantalizing echoes of Gilbert and Sullivan favourites. Mocking modern society's craze for a quick fix, this musical play, written by two members of The Sheringham Savoyards, is about a group of friends who hope for life-changing effects from a so-called magic lozenge. However the magic is found only in the power of belief, and the knock-on effects of the 'little orange sweetie' change the lives of some of these friends for ever.

| Event: COMEDY - A Kipper Country Christmas |
Venue/Time: Sheringham Little Theatre 7.30pm |
| presented by Sid Kipper
For your delight Sid Kipper, icon and iconoclast, pulls out the plums of his Yuletide repertoire, sticks bits of holly on them, drenches them in brandy and sets them ablaze. By their light he looks back at rural winters when snowflakes glistened, frosty winds made moan, and it really was deep and crisp and even. "It was cold, but fair. Well, even the rich couldn't light a fire with a little boy up their chimney, could they?" Present times are not ignored and the show has tips for those new to rural life, culled from Sid's recent Channel 4 podcast series 'The Kipper Country Code'. This is sprinkled over seasonal songs, stories, rhymes and reason, with the odd musical instrument and - this being Christmas - nuts. "Nuts are very important at Christmas - along with stockings, crackers, breast, legs and stuffing. Without them mother wouldn't know what to talk about." Along the way Carol is sung, Belle's told, and Sherry is trifled with. There's turkey talked, pies minced, and sausages rolled. In short, Yule is comprehensively logged in a thoroughly entertaining fashion.
