HUNSTANTON
A small seaside town, established just over 150 years ago Once discovered, often revisited!
When you visit our unique east coast resort, you really can
experience wonderful sunsets over the sea to the West!
There are miles of wide sandy beaches, rock pools,
striking white, red and brown striped cliffs with sand dunes and marshes beyond, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
* Hunstanton is ideal for traditional seaside holidays, with its sands, promenade, green, bandstand and gardens.
The many facilities include the Oasis leisure centre, bowling greens, tennis courts, pitch and putt, Aquarium and fair.
You can take a boat to Seal Island and along the coast to view the unique cliffs and Old Lighthouse from the sea.
* Windsurfing, sailing, water skiing and power boating
are popular with some visitors, while others enjoy
swimming, bowls, tennis, or golf. Hunstanton Golf Club has an 18 hole championship links course. Brancaster and King's Lynn courses are nearby too.
* For those wishing to eat out there are numerous cafes,
restaurants, bars and takeaways in the town. A little further afield in the pretty Norfolk villages there are other eating places and watering holes to find.
Fresh local sea fish can be found with good real ales!
* The marshes and wide open beaches towards Old Hunstanton and Holme-next-sea provide wonderful walks, as do The Peddars Way, Coastal Footpath and Ringstead Common.
* Bird watchers find the area a paradise. Spring and autumn provide much added interest. This most easterly part of the coast line is a landfall for many interesting and often rare migrating species. Titchwell, Snettisham, Ringstead Downs and Holme reserves are all close by. The local cliff top is excellent for sea watching.
*Hunstanton is an ideal base for touring and exploring
Royal Norfolk. The Queen's residence at Sandringham, set in its gardens and wooded country park ideal for picnics is nearby. The Royal estate hosts the Sandringham flower show last Wednesday in July also Horse trials and Craft Fairs.
* There are many other interesting places to visit including Norfolk Lavender at Heacham, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, Caithness Glass, Historic King's Lynn, Fakenham Racecourse, Castle Rising and Burnham Thorpe which is Lord Nelson's birthplace. |
