Stody
Stody is a small picturesque village situated south of Holt between Hunworth and Melton Constable. It is surrounded by rolling countryside and woodland, and is perfect for walking and cycling. The Gardens at Stody Lodge are open annually with fine displays of Rhododendrons & Azaleas, and a beautiful water garden. The village church, St Mary's, has one of Norfolk's better preserved Saxon round towers. Stody Hall is set on a hill overlooking a delightful stream that flows into the River Glaven; a manor house has been on this site for over 500 years and is considered to be of historical interest.
The name Stody comes from the old English word ‘Stodhaeg’ meaning ‘pasture for horses’ |
